Miyuki Daorana was born and raised in Qaanaaq and then in Nuuk, Greenland. Of Inuit and Japanese descent, she is from the Inughuit community (inhabitants of Avanersuaq in Northwest Greenland).
Miyuki Daorana holds a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, and is now studying her Master’s degree in Indigenous Studies at the Arctic University of Norway in Tromsø. Her subject areas is a holistic mix of advocating for Indigenous knowledge systems, climate justice, decolonial methodologies, and study of multi-layered power inequities.
Her work experience varies from participating in several different Youth Programs, advocating for Arctic Indigenous Rights in different Arctic and International conferences, educating, translating and building bridges to enhance ethical collaborations, climate justice work, like contributing to develop the Greenlandic National Climate Strategy, working for various actors like Inuit Circumpolar Council and the Government of Greenland.
