The very idea of the “Triades du Trégor” was born from meeting Olennguaq Kristensen three years ago at the end of a kayak expedition across Melville Bay. The long discussions with him made the opportunity for a prolonged meeting in France with people from his country, starting with himself, clearly evident to us.
He is a hunter, recognized by his peers, living with his family in the small village of Savissivik. He is one of the main figures in the film The Color of Ice (2023), a science film presented at numerous festivals. Consequently, Olennguaq has been invited to climate conferences, such as in Taiwan in 2025. Through a fertile dialogue, he cooperates with scientists to set up environmentally friendly experiments (particularly regarding wildlife). In this capacity, he was invited to Science Week in Nuuk (Greenland’s capital) and to Iceland in December 2025.
It is a privilege and a joy that he accepted our invitation, after having validated and even supported the principle and approach of these meetings (in which he will be a key participant in the organization).
