The Trégor – The Far North
The 2026 “Triades” meetings are not being held in the Trégor by chance. This historical region of Brittany shares a close bond with the Far North through the sea and the land, as well as a historical and cultural rural identity (fishing and hunting in the North, complemented by agriculture in our region).
Our two regions (Trégor and Avanersuaq) also share the fact that they are no longer official administrative areas, yet they remain a living and powerful cultural and structural reality for their inhabitants.
There is also the connection of the kayak: invented millennia ago by the indigenous peoples of the Arctic, it was introduced to Northern Brittany in the 1970s. Since then, the area has become a major French hub for expedition and touring training. These expeditions have led many people toward the Arctic imagination that remains so vibrant in our country. It is these very journeys that led some of us to Savissivik and Qaanaaq, and to the encounters with those who are our guests today.
We propose to deepen and expand these links, positioning ourselves as a welcoming land with a desire to question, listen, and learn.
Plestin-les-Grèves - Locquirec
Our event will primarily take place across two adjacent municipalities belonging to two different Breton departments (Côtes-d’Armor and Finistère) which, notably, had the foresight to twin with one another. These two towns share the same coastline and the same sense of hospitality and openness.
